Mini Split Systems

Mini-splits are heating and cooling systems that allow you to control the temperatures in individual rooms or spaces.
Mini-split systems have two main components -- an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit(s) (evaporator). They are easy to install usually requiring only a three-inch hole through a wall for the conduit.

Ducted Whole House Systems

These systems are composed of mechanical components: blower, refrigerant, condenser, compressor & evaporator coil. Airflow passes through vents or ducts running thru out the interior of the house.
The avg. life of a central A/C system is 12-15 yrs if properly installed & maintained. Heat pumps have about the same life-span (about 14 yrs) with recommended maintenance. Newer units made in recent years are expected to last even longer.

Fixed Unit A/C

Fixed air conditioners are traditionally mounted on the wall or windows in each room. Multiple units are usually installed individually according to its size and the area to be cooled.
There are portable air conditioning systems with indoor and outdoor segments that are connected to a hose through an open outlet or window. The good thing is that it can be transferred from one room to another as the need arises

Commercial A/C Units

There are many types of specialized HVAC technology used in commercial buildings and these are often much different from those terms used in common residential applications.
The most common commercial style A/C systems include: Variable Air Volume (VAV), Constant Air Volume (CAV), Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF), Chilled beams (active and passive), Heat Pump, Fan Coils (FCU) and Blower Coils (BCU), and Unit Ventilators (UV).
